Default Another Unheard Desert "Nerf"

Go to Amnoon Oasis and go aside...walk 2 inches...And see stuff like this:

*Note I took it as I died in 3 seconds*

It isn't even a good picture, but you see Jade's spawn in groups of EIGHT now, and the groups are very close together. So you can easily aggro 16+ Jades at a time...And they all use Vile Touch on you in like a spike..

I counted 37 Jades spawned before I even turned the corner infront of Oasis.

This is a under the table nerf to "Desert Tour" runners Methinks..

I've heard runners say its really hard for their Top running warriors to even get through now. You can outrun the Vile Touches and such sure...but 10+ of them follow you onto the teleporter, and all Spike you when you are touching the swithes.

People were getting tired of the "I got run here, here, and here" generation that were screwing up gameplay for others by not knowing anything. And since they can't go against running after supporting it, all they have are under the table nerfs to correct the horrible mistake of allowing running in the first place.

So I say, good job A.Net.

Good Job? It didn't nerf Running.. All it is doing is making those new to the desert scared to zone outside Oasis - literally FORCING them to get run...not the other way around.

No lvl18-19 just coming into the desert with lvl17 henchies can stand all those monsters without like really good pulling and aggroing skills.

Wait, you mean this might force every player that comes to the desert to learn really good pulling and aggroing skills?

I'm OK with that.

Seriously, the game has a few of these overwhelming enemy clusters sprinkled throughout, and I think it's a good thing. It's rewarding to figure out a way to beat the Stone Summit party south of Yak's with your first character. Or to figure out how to get past the Tengu army between Lion's Arch and Ascalon Settlement.

The desert should be a challenge. Real players who encounter this desert welcoming party will be better for it. And first-timers who get run past it were going to get run anyway. Just the way it goes.

I'm sorry but I like to do all quests and mission, usually I don't get run anywhere, but now I find very hard to do the quests in the desert! I had to do the quest "Ghostly Vengance" seven, I repeat seven times before I was able to kill 10 minotaurus.......Come on! Beside the Rockshot Devourers I confronted too many Morrow Scarabs and they all are level 22!
Why should normal players get punished because of the few players who like to farm or run people!
May be I'm alone (in my opinion) but I don't care about farming or people who get run!
Finished my rant, Thanks for listening.

In other words, it's exactly like it's always been. Everyone gets slaughtered in three seconds the first time they go out of Amnoon into the desert. Everyone thinks its impossible.

Then they realize they have to move slow, take one group at a time, and before they know it they're in Augury.

I take it you've just never passed by there before. Run the first time, perhaps?

simple trick...

Use both sprint and charge to surge past their aggro bubbles, right round the back of the tele (NOT on it, they will follow you), used to work 95% of the time for me. 5% of the time I would be slaughtered.

A nice nerf. Makes people do things more for themselfs(People using runners).

I'm guessing running is still possible, although.

Ash.

A nice nerf indeed. Now warriors farming griffons will be less common. Horray for influx of normal players.

Yuck ... scarabs.

That area has always been a bit of a pain to do with henchies, and I would also like to point out that good pulling/aggro skills can only help so much when the enemy is BURIED AND YOU CAN'T SEE THEM until you bubble their area.

That being said, I usually didn't have too bad a time doing it with henchies before, but will have to try again next time I pass through there.

Forced to run because of more scarabs? Nonesense, I went out there with the lvl 17 henchies and did fine. It was tough, but only as tough as the first time I went out there at lvl 17, before they made things in the desert easier.

So if you tell me you NEED to get run because you can't find a single lvl 20 to help you. Well then...that's why the desert is hard, to keep people like that away from droks and beyond.

Crystal Desert = NOOB BARRIER.

One person in this thread has the correct perspective. Congrats Former Ruling, you're a god among insects, in that respect.

Seriously people, for newer players to the desert (even those that DIDN'T get run), the Desert was pretty challenging the first time you step outside Amnoon. Now newer players to the Desert will see these mobs and think "man, there's no way you could do this, I think I need to get run so I can actually get somewhere."

And you think it'll cut down on runners... The blood supply to your main must be tied off, I guess...

Er...maybe you need to say a bit more as kindle is a prep and barrage removes all preps once you activate it.

Anyway, outside of Amnoon has always been a scarab infested area.

If you're playing the game through, you won't have Barrage at Amnoon. Saying that a previous run negates the need for a subsequent run is kind of faulty logic...

I'll ignore the childish flamebaiting, here, and talk about the real issue. A real player won't look at a challenge like this and decide to turn tail and run. They'll adjust their build, try a few times, and succeed. And be an even better player for it.

The player who walks out the door, gets scared, and gets run, has been doing that the whole game. The reason? They're not good. And they don't want to be. They just want to get to high level areas and be 4337. That's unavoidable, to an extent. But to say that there are players who have worked their way through the whole game, never getting run, only to be "literally FORCED" to be run in the desert... come on. Give real players some credit.

Just one insect's opinion.

I think it does encourage running a guildie of mine was tryin to get to augury and he couldnt even come close because of all the enemies, for the people who say its not that bad and they did it with hechies they most likely had the best armor in the game making it alot easier but for the person playing through for the fisrt time with much worse armor and weapons its very hard and discouraging and only encourages them to get a run
